Adult Programs

Bookmark Contest 2026

Public voting to choose the best bookmark designs runs August 1-24. Four winners will each receive a $100 Barnes & Noble gift card, and their designs will be professionally printed for distribution at our library!

Open to all ages. Registration is not required. Winners will be announced on the library's Facebook page on September 1.

End your day with a Udemy guided meditation course, coloring, and other activities that promote mindfulness and relaxation.

Do you crochet, knit, or embroider? Are you looking to learn? Join us to focus on your project and connect with others who are passionate about your craft! Supplies will be available for use on a first come, first served basis. This is a member-led group.

Computer Skills 2.0

Technology Training Lab

Aug. 6th - 27th, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m

Topics include: desktop/taskbar customization, an in-depth look at the file explorer, Internet search tips, as well as guidelines to keep yourself safe while using your computer.

This is a 4-week class. Registration is required.

Book Nook

Aug. 8th, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Members of the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library are hosting special $5 bag sales at the Book Nook on select Saturdays July-December of this year. Choose from children's books, adult fiction and non-fiction, audiobooks, DVDs, and more.

Friends of the Library Meeting

For more than 20 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has served as an independent organization of persons and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Professional Development Workshop for Early Childhood Educators & Librarians

This in-depth session sponsored by Visit Oak Creek will include strategies to promote family and caregiver engagement in programming.

Guided Nature Walk

Aug. 15th, 9:30 - 10:15 a.m

Join accomplished birder Austin Hribar for a beginner-friendly walk around Emerald Preserve. He will highlight birds, blooming wildflowers, plants of interest, and other local wildlife. The space is very accessible with well-maintained trails.

Open to all ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

Meg Jones Author Fest

Multi-purpose Room

Aug. 22nd, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m

Discover local Wisconsin authors and get a head start on your holiday shopping. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Available titles suit all age levels and a variety of interests!

Open to all ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required. Authors can reserve a spot here.

A Parent's Guide to Internet Safety

A representative from the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection will discuss safe practices for children while accessing the internet.

Summer Reading Challenge

Ends August 15th!

Join Oak Creek Public Library in reading over the summer. This all-ages Summer Reading Challenge runs Saturday, June 13 – Saturday, August 15. Upon registration, participants will have their name added to the window mural overlooking Drexel Town Square. After reading for 15 days, participants will receive a prize. Prizes will be available Saturday, June 27 – Saturday, August 15, or while supplies last.

Story Time at Abendschein Park

1311 E. Drexel Avenue

Aug. 5th, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

This interactive Story Time incorporates stories, songs, and rhymes. Following that, we'll offer games and activities! This program is presented in collaboration with the Oak Creek Health Department as part of the Oak Creek Park Passport Pop-Up Events Program.

Geared toward children ages 2-8, with an adult, though all ages are welcome. Registration is not required.

Intergenerational Story Time

Oak Park Place

Aug. 7th, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

This 30-minute Story Time at Oak Park Place welcomes children of all ages with their caregivers and seniors from the community. It will feature stories and songs followed by a playtime and social for attendees.

Registration is not required.

Meet us at the Farmers Market for Story TIme! This 20-minute interactive Story Time incorporates stories, songs, and rhymes.

Summer Reading Finale

A Sing-Along & Play-Along Concert with Jim Gill

Take part in Kids Night at Drexel Town Square for the Summer Reading Finale. Get ready to sing, clap, and dance along with award-winning musician and author Jim Gill! His music invites children, parents, and grandparents to sing, dance, and play together.
