Adult Programs

OCPL Poetry Contest

April 1st - 30th

Celebrate National Poetry Month by participating in OCPL's annual Poetry Contest! There are three age categories:

Middle School (ages 11-13)
High School (ages 14-18)
Adult (18+)

Poetry must be submitted in-person at the library's Children's or Adult Service Desks during the month of April. Entries will be judged by members of the community. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for each category, as well as a chance to be published in the Oak Creek Current magazine and on OCPL's website.

Winners will be announced at the Poetry Open Mic Night on May 29, 2026 and be invited to read their poems aloud if they would like.

Stitching Circle

Technology Training Lab

Starts April 1st, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Do you crochet, knit, or embroider? Are you looking to learn? Join us in this space every other Wednesday to focus on your project and connect with others who are passionate about your craft! Supplies will be available for use on a first come, first served basis. This is a member-led group.

Open to adults (ages 18+) only. Registration is not required.

Computer Class

Intermediate Microsoft Office

Technology Training Lab

Apr. 2nd - 23rd, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m

This computer class is recommended for people who have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Learn intermediate concepts in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

This is a 4-week class. Registration is required.

Georgie Porgie's Fundraising Night

9555 S Howell Ave, Oak Creek

Apr. 7th, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Eat at Georgie Porgie's on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and a portion of the sale of your order will come back to the library! You will need to give a copy of a special form to staff when ordering. Forms are available at the library or can be downloaded & printed off our website.

Registration is not required.

Friends of the Library Meeting

Civic Center

Apr. 8th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

For more than 20 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has served as an independent organization of persons and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

2:00 - 4:00 p.m. by appt. only

Bring in your device for a 30-minute appointment with a librarian. Library laptops will be available for general computer assistance.

Registration for each Thursday opens the Monday prior. You may only register for one 30 minute session per Thursday; walk-in appointments are not available.

Library Board Meeting

Apr. 9th, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The Oak Creek Public Library Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the Oak Creek Public Library. The Board is composed of seven members, each appointed by the Mayor for staggered three-year terms. The board usually meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Civic Center. Some meetings may be held virtually.

Join us at the library for an exploratory program about AI led by Anu Hoysniemi. We'll discuss what AI is, why it matters, the key risks everyone should know, how to get started without being overwhelmed, and everyday AI tools and tricks to save time.

Geared toward adults and teens. Registration is not required.

Book Nook

Apr. 18th, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Members of the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library are hosting special $5 bag sales at the Book Nook on select Saturdays January-October of this year. Choose from children's books, adult fiction and non-fiction, audiobooks, DVDs, and more.

Character Championship

Ends April 6th!

Continue voting each week for your favorite characters. The third & final round of voting is from March 31-April 6.

Voting slips are available at a table in front of the green boxcar located on the 1st floor of the library. The Character Champion will be announced Tuesday, April 7.

This program is for all ages. Registration is not required.

Story Time Room

Create your own t-shirt using stencils, paint, and other craft supplies.

This program is for those in grades 6-8. Registration is required.

Video Game Club

Apr. 1st, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Are you a fan of video games? Join us for our Video Game Club where we play a video game! We will also have activities relating to popular game characters.

This program is for those in grades 2-5. Registration is required.

Join us for this hour-long story time and activity session where we'll be exploring different family food traditions and recipes. Please let us know if you have any food allergies when you arrive.

Ever wonder how detectives solve crimes? Join us in this kid-friendly, forensic science lab.

This program is for those in grades 2-5. Registration is required.

After School Art Club

Apr. 8th, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Bring your imagination and creative thinking skills to our After School Art Club! At each session, you will create a different work of art.

This program is for those in grades 2-5. Registration is required.
