SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Let your summer reading adventure begin at the Whitefish Bay Public Library! We’ve got a program for all ages, whether you are two or one-hundred and two. From babies all the way up to teens, we’ve got paper logs to record your reading.  It’s easy: read on your own, read together, be read to, or read to someone else. Keep track on your paper reading log and earn great prizes! Stop by the Youth Services desk today to pick up your paper log. If you lost or misplaced your log we'd be happy to get you another.

June 28: Create Your Own-
Yayoi Kusami's Obliteration Room
Yayoi Kusama's interactive Obliteration Room began as a white space which visitors were invited to cover with stickers.  Make your own version of Kusama's Obliteration Room at our drop-in art event.  We'll have dot stickers and your own 2D white room.
July 12: Community Art- 
Andy Warhol Soup Cans
Inspired by Andy Warhol, we're creating a community pop art mural! Stop by the YS area, color a soup can in any colors you'd like, and become part of one large community artwork.
July 26: Create Your Own-
Piet Mondrian Cats
Channel your inner Piet Mondrian and create amazing art work using only primary colors: yellow, red, and blue.  We'll supply everything you need.

Cardboard Rainbow Sculptures
Monday, June 30, 3-5PM

Create your own cardboard rainbow sculptures.  Stop by for 15 minutes of crafting or stay for the entire session.  

Life-Sized Keith Haring
Wednesday, July 9, 1-3PM

Inspired by the work of Keith Haring, we'll use big paper, bold colors, and simple drawings to create life-sized Keith Haring-esque portraits.  Drop in, get traced, and create!

Drop-In Art: Kandinsky Trees
Monday, July 14, 1-4PM

Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's love of circles, we're making Kandinsky trees!  We'll have a variety of methods to make circles.  Feel free to stop in for 15 minutes of crafting or stay the whole time.
 

Color Our World: Plein Air Summer Sketching

Tuesday, July 22, 10-11AM

Channel your inner Gabriele Münter and create a gorgeous, colorful landscape in plein air aka in open air.  We'll be drawing in the library lawn and in School House Park.  Rain site: Upstairs program room.

All Ages Squishmallow Portrait Party

Wednesday, July 30, 3-4PM

Celebrate the adorableness of Squishmallows and color your world at our Squishmallow Portrait event!  We'll provide canvases and art supplies, and you can bring your favorite Squishmallow for artistic inspiration..  (We'll also have extra Squishmalows that you can use for inspiration!)   
This event is an all ages event program.  Young children are welcome with an adult caregiver. Registration required.

Use Sharpies, rubbing alcohol and droppers to tie dye a piece of clothing. Feel free to bring your own 100% cotton item! Please wash any items you are planning on tie dying, especially if they are new. The library will also have some items available.

We’ll have a variety of cool materials  perfect for tinkering and exploring.  What’s tinkering?  It’s all about hands-on experiences, learning from failures, and unstructured time to explore and invent better solutions to current problems.  And it’s fun! No registration required.
