Cowboys: An American Symbol

Cowboys have had a lasting impact on media and literature since the days of the "Wild West." Former Professor of American History Dr. Diana Ahmad will share insight into their origins and what led them to become such symbols of American history.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Book Club

Embark on an epic journey with fellow adventurers! We'll delve into the first book of Tolkien's masterpiece, exploring Middle-earth's magic and peril together. Join us every Saturday for lively discussions, shared insights, and a quest to understand the power of friendship and courage.

Friends of the Library Meeting

For more than 20 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has served as an independent organization of persons and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Library Board Meeting

The Oak Creek Public Library Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the Oak Creek Public Library. The Board is composed of seven members, each appointed by the Mayor for staggered three-year terms. The board usually meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Civic Center. Some meetings may be held virtually.

Computer Class

Analog to Digital

Technology Training Lab

June 12th, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m

This class will show you how to convert your analog materials into digital format. In addition, there will be instruction on how to use a recording microphone and Audacity as well as discussion about the different drives and hubs the library has available for checkout.
 
This is a single-session class. Registration is required.

Summer Reading Challenge

Registration opens June 14

Join Oak Creek Public Library in reading over the summer. This all-ages Summer Reading Challenge runs Saturday, June 14 – Saturday, August 9. Upon registration, participants will have their name added to the window mural overlooking Drexel Town Square. After reading for 15 days, participants will receive a prize. Prizes will be available Saturday, June 28 – Saturday, August 9, or while supplies last.

Summer Reading Kick-Off at the Farmers Market

June 14th, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m

Meet us at the Farmers Market for the Summer Reading Kick-Off! Learn about the Summer Reading Challenge and grab some library swag (while supplies last) at our booth from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Story Times based on this year's theme "Color Our World" will take place at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. 
 
This Story Time is geared toward children ages 4-8, with an adult, though all ages are welcome. Registration is not required.

This 30-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages 2-5, with an adult (siblings welcome). We'll be incorporating music and movement into all books, songs, and rhymes.

Rainbow Book Month

YA Section (2nd floor)

Rainbow books are located on the display stand in the YA section throughout the month of June. After you read one, tell us a bit about it by filling out a short review form, and we'll give you a prize. Participants can turn in their forms at the second-floor service desk to receive their prize.
 
This program is geared toward teens. Registration is not required.

Summer Performer - Dan Gogh's Magic and Art Show

Multi-purpose Room

June 17th, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Artist-Magician Dan Gogh uses comedy, magic, and art to unlock the mystery of creativity. Dan will be your guide to wacky colors, magical drawings, and art tools that have a mind of their own.
 
This program is for ages 4-11, with an adult. Registration is not required.

Come and learn about the teen volunteer program and opportunities available this summer. This orientation is required for new volunteers and encouraged for returning volunteers.
