One-on-One Tech Help

Technology Training Lab

Select Thursdays

2:00 - 4:00 p.m. by appt. only

Are you looking for one-on-one technology assistance? On Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., bring in your device for a 30-minute appointment with a librarian. Library laptops will be available for general computer assistance.
 
Registration for each Thursday opens the Monday prior. You may only register for one 30 minute session per Thursday; walk-in appointments are not available.

Office for Beginners

Technology Training Lab

Sept. 5th - 26th

6:00 - 8:30 p.m

Participants will learn the basics of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Topics include: how to create a simple document, format text, cut, copy & paste, create a monthly expense spreadsheet, use AutoSum, create a simple slideshow, insert pictures, use animations, create a simple flyer, and use a template to create a business card.

 
This is a 4-week class. Registration is required.

Meg Jones Author Fest

Multi-purpose Room

Sept. 7th, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m

Discover “new to you” local Wisconsin authors and get a head start on your holiday shopping at Oak Creek Public Library’s Author Fest. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Available titles suit all age levels and a variety of interests.

How To Take Notes to Get Better Grades

Multi-purpose Room

Sept. 10th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m

Learn how to better take notes in class or other learning environments. This includes how to read textbooks and articles more efficiently and what to do with the notes you take. This program is designed for learners from the high school level all the way through to non-traditional students furthering their education.

Friends of the Library Meeting

Civic Center

Sept. 11th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

For more than 20 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has served as an independent organization of persons and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Our meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month (except for July and August) at 6:00 p.m., typically held in the CIvic Center.

Library Board Meeting

Sept. 12th, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The Oak Creek Public Library Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the Oak Creek Public Library. The Board is composed of seven members, each appointed by the Mayor for staggered three-year terms. The board usually meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Civic Center. Some meetings may be held virtually.

Friends of the Library Farmer's Market Book Sale

Drexel Town Square

Sept. 14th, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m

Join us for a $0.50 sale at the Farmers Market in Drexel Town Square on select Saturdays. There is a huge selection to choose from, so see what treasures you can find!

Each item is just $0.50, and all proceeds benefit the programs, services, and collections of the Oak Creek Public Library.

OCPL Trivia Night

Sept. 20th, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Are you feelin’ quizzy? Join us for a night full of trivia and fun! Snacks, beverages, and music will accompany a mix of easy, medium, and hard questions. There are a total of five rounds—all different categories—and each round has ten questions. Members of the winning team will receive an OCPL Trivia trophy and a gift card to a local business.

 

Registration is required. Please limit your team to a minimum of two members and a maximum of six members.

Get ready for movement and books! There will be a course with options for physical obstacles, brain teasers, and book-related activities. You decide which stations will be a part of your challenge. Once your challenge is picked, the race begins to find out how many times you can get through the library obstacle course!

This program is designed for ages 4-11 with an adult (siblings welcome). Registration not required.

This monthly support group is led by Oak Creek Health Department Certified Lactation Counselors. We can help with latch, supply issues, positioning, and more.

Middle School: September Spa Day

The start of a new school year can be a very stressful time. Join us for a "spa day" where we will relax and prepare for the new school year. Participants will make some mood boards and de-stress jars as well as learn some stress-relieving strategies. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
