One-on-One Tech Help

Technology Training Lab

2:00 - 4:00 p.m. by appt. only

Are you looking for one-on-one technology assistance? On Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., bring in your device for a 30-minute appointment with a librarian. Library laptops will be available for general computer assistance.

Registration for each Thursday opens the Monday prior. You may only register for one 30 minute session per Thursday; walk-in appointments are not available.

Technology Training Lab

March 7th - 28th

 

6:00 - 8:30 p.m

Participants will learn the basics of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Topics include: how to create a simple document, format text, cut, copy & paste, create a monthly expense spreadsheet, use AutoSum, create a simple slideshow, insert pictures, use animations, create a simple flyer, and use a template to create a business card.

 

This is a 4-week class. Registration is required.

Home Improvement Rights and Contracts

Mar. 12th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Multi-purpose Room

Ben Merens of the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection will present information on home improvement practices and contracts under Wisconsin law.

Friends of the Library Meeting

Tower Room

Mar. 13th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

For more than 20 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has served as an independent organization of persons and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Our meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month (except for July and August) at 6:00 p.m., typically held in the Tower Room.

Library Board Meeting

Mar. 14th, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The Oak Creek Public Library Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the Oak Creek Public Library. The Board is composed of seven members, each appointed by the Mayor for staggered three-year terms. The board usually meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Civic Center. Some meetings may be held virtually.

This 30-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages 2-5, with an adult (siblings welcome). We'll be incorporating music and movement into all books, songs, and rhymes.

Registration is not required.

Baby Story Time

Tuesdays, Jan. 9th - Mar. 12th

9:30 - 9:50 a.m.

This 15-20-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages birth to 24 months, with an adult (siblings welcome). It features short stories, songs, and lapsit rhymes that foster early literacy and will be followed by a play time.

Registration is not required. Please only attend one time slot per day.

STEAM Lab: Science of Rainbows

Story Time Room

Mar. 4th, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Work as a team to create, experiment and learn through hands-on activities. Explore the science of rainbows by participating in several hands-on STEAM station activities. 

This program is for those in grades 2-5. Registration is required.

Character Championship

March 7th - 18th

Do you think your favorite character has what it takes to win a Character Championship? Your vote will decide! To be entered into the contest, your bracket must be completed between March 7-18. Then, make sure to vote each week for your favorite characters! The first round of voting will be from March 19-25, the second round from March 26-April 1, the third & final round from April 2-8.

Winners (those with correctly picked brackets) will receive a Book Nook coupon and an exclusive pin. Brackets and voting slips will be available at a table in front of the green train carriage located on the 1st floor of the library.

This program is for all ages. Registration is not required.

Magazine Scavenger Hunt

Multi-purpose Room

Mar. 7th, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Get ready to exercise your searching, crafting, and comprehension skills! Families will work together to find images and words in a magazine scavenger hunt at Oak Creek Public Library.

This program is designed for ages 4-11 with an adult (siblings welcome). Registration is not required.
