Friends of the Library Meeting

Technology Training Lab

Jan. 10th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

For more than 20 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has served as an independent organization of persons and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Our meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month (except for July and August) at 6:00 p.m., typically held in the Technology Training Lab.

One-on-One Tech Help

2:00 - 4:00 p.m. by appt. only

Are you looking for one-on-one technology assistance? On Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., bring in your device for a 30-minute appointment with a librarian. Library laptops will be available for general computer assistance.

Registration for each Thursday opens the Monday prior. You may only register for one 30 minute session per Thursday; walk-in appointments are not available.

Library Board Meeting

Tower Room

Jan. 11th, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The Oak Creek Public Library Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the Oak Creek Public Library. The Board is composed of seven members, each appointed by the Mayor for staggered three-year terms. The board usually meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Civic Center. Some meetings may be held virtually.

The Pixologist's Guide to Old Photos, Genealogy, and Saving Your Family History

Multi-purpose Room

Jan. 11th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Uncover the secrets of your old photo collection and discover how the clues contained within old albums, bins, and boxes may help you start your family's genealogy journey. Author Mollie Bartelt will give a 45-minute talk well suited for beginners in genealogy or those interested in organizing their family history.

OCPL Trivia Night

Multi-purpose Room

Jan. 12th, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Are you feelin’ quizzy? Join us for a night full of trivia and fun! Snacks, beverages, and music will accompany a mix of easy, medium, and hard questions. There are a total of five rounds—all different categories—and each round has ten questions. Members of the winning team will receive an OCPL Trivia trophy and a gift card to a local business.

Registration is required. Please limit your team to six members or less.

Family, Teen, and Children's Programs

Winter Reading Challenge

Registration opened Dec. 1st

The Winter Reading Challenge runs Friday, December 1 – Thursday, February 29. Patrons of all ages may participate. Anyone who registers will have their name added to a winter mural located on the library windows overlooking Drexel Town Square. After 10 hours of reading, registered participants will receive a prize (available while supplies last).

Need books? Let us build you a book bundle! Tell us what kind of books you’d like and a librarian will select titles based on your request. Get started.

This 30-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages 2-5, with an adult (siblings welcome). We'll be incorporating music and movement into all books, songs, and rhymes.

Registration is not required.

This 15-20-minute Story Time is geared toward children ages birth to 24 months, with an adult (siblings welcome). It features short stories, songs, and lapsit rhymes that foster early literacy and will be followed by a play time.

Registration is not required. Please only attend one time slot per day.

Middle School 'Decorate Your Own Fanny Pack'

Jan. 15th, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Come to our January middle school program to decorate your own fanny pack! We will be styling our fanny packs using paints, pens, buttons, and other materials.

This program is for those in grades 6-8. Registration is required.

Teen Volunteer Orientation

Jan. 16th, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Learn about opportunities available this winter and spring. This orientation is required for new volunteers and encouraged for returning volunteers. New volunteers must submit the volunteer application before the event.

LEGO®  Showcase presented by WisLUG

Multi-purpose Room

January 27th

 

11:00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m.

Members of the Wisconsin LEGO Users Group will display their original LEGO creations in the Multi-purpose Room. Come meet the builders and learn about their work!

This is a free, family-friendly event. There will also be a brick building station set up in the Story Time Room for children of all ages and their families to enjoy. Registration is not required.
