Adult Programs

Musical Sing-along Nights

Multi-purpose Room

Aug. 2nd, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Come and sing along to a well-known and loved movie musical at our ‘Musical Sing-along Nights’. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 6:00 p.m. Snacks/beverages will be provided. Stay for a chance to win themed raffle prizes!

Registration is not required. This program is for all ages, but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Computer Class

*NEW* Computer Skills 2.0

Technology Training Lab

Aug. 3rd - 24th

6:00. - 8:30 p.m.

Most people feel pretty comfortable with basic computer skills (clicking, accessing the Internet, sending emails, etc.). This new, 4-week computer class is for people who are ready for the next level of instruction. Topics include: desktop/taskbar customization, an in-depth look at the file explorer, Internet search tips, as well as guidelines to keep yourself safe while using your computer. 

This is a 4-week class. Registration is required.

Meg Jones Author Fest

Multi-purpose Room

Aug. 12th, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Discover “new to you” local Wisconsin authors and get a head start on your holiday shopping at our Author Fest. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Meg Jones was an Oak Creek resident, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Reporter, published author, and public library advocate. Check our events calendar to see a list of authors who will be attending this event!

This program is open to all ages. Registration is not required.

Animals of the West

Multi-purpose Room

Aug. 15th, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Former Professor of American History Dr. Diana Ahmad will be giving a presentation about animals on the overland trails during the mid-19th century. Make sure you don't miss this  opportunity to learn a little bit more about American history and to see some cute critters!

Reptiles in Wisconsin

Multi-purpose Room

Aug. 26th, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Tatania's Tiny Zoo brings nature to you! Meet 4-6 different animals that can all be found right here in Wisconsin. Through hands-on education, you'll learn about what makes critters like snakes and lizards important members of our ecosystem. Ask questions, and even get the chance to touch these often misunderstood creatures.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.

Join us on August 20th at Franklin Field to cheer on your Milwaukee Milkmen vs. the Lake Country Dockhounds. Purchase tickets and raise funds to support library programming throughout the year. Tickets start at $9.

Summer Reading Challenge

Registration opened June 10th

Join Oak Creek Public Library this summer to read All Together Now! This all-ages Summer Reading Challenge runs Saturday, June 10 – Saturday, August 12. Prizes will be available Monday, June 12 – Saturday, August 12, or while supplies last. Participants who read for 10 hours will receive a prize and have their name added to the window mural overlooking Drexel Town Square.

InvestiGators Investigation

Story Time Room

Aug. 2nd, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Mango and Brash, two gumshoe gators, follow clues and fight the forces of evil. Try on our Very Exciting Spy Technologies (V.E.S.Ts) to solve mysteries at the library. The "InvestiGators" series is written by John Patrick Green.

This program is for those entering grades 3-6 in fall 2023. Registration is required.

Middle School RPG Character Creation

Story Time Room

Aug. 3rd, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Did you watch Stranger Things and think you should try playing a role-playing game like Dungeons & Dragons? Well, first you have to build a character, which can be an intimidating process. Join us as we go over the basics of character building and create characters together.

This program is for those entering grades 6-9 in fall 2023. Registration is required.

Meet us at the Farmers Market for Story Time! This 20-minute interactive Story Time incorporates stories, songs, and rhymes.

 

This program is geared toward children ages 2-5, with an adult (siblings welcome). Registration is not required. Feel free to bring a blanket to sit on.
